Diesel Performance

Diesel Performance
A Note from the Owner

Diesel performance is not different than any other type of performance. It all starts with an extra interest in a specific type of performance. My current performance interest is Diesel Performance and has been for over a decade. I have a diesel performance Cummins that sees a lot of street use and some drag strip time and has over 1,000 horsepower at the rear wheels. Our ASE certified team here at Advanced Cylinder Heads, LLC has collectively been a part of making this truck and others perform at higher horsepower levels as well as repair. Like anything that makes a little bit of power it is a fun ride!

I don’t believe Diesel or Compression Ignition Engines will never go away. Diesel Performance has come a long way due to technology, electronics, and enthusiasts. When I think of turning up a stock diesel to make more power the first word that comes to mind for me is transmission. The more power, (torque climbs at a very high rate when hopping up a diesel), the more the transmission, especially being a torque multiplier will eventually fail. When you decide to enter into the diesel performance or even the towing category with your diesel rig, remember to upgrade the transmission first, then go to the engine side of it. We are very familiar with transmissions, including upgrades and we build them in house.  Feel free to call and inquire about any upgrades you are considering.

Diesel engines definitely got a bad rap from the 80’s due to being noisy, smoky, and slow. In the early 90’s things started to pick up when manufactures starting installing turbo chargers in them. This was the beginning of fixing the slow issue, however, diesels were still noisy and smoky. In the early 2000’s electronics were introduced to the fuel system. This is where diesel engines started to become quiet, faster, and almost smokeless from the factory. This is where diesel performance and the aftermarket were really born.

Whether you have an older mechanical diesel engine or a more modern electronic diesel engine there are numerous things to do to greatly increase the power and even reliability of your diesel engine. Contact me to discuss any of your diesel performance needs.
